Sixpence Cottage is a truly special place that exudes love and warmth in every corner. We named our cottage after our beloved Whippet, Luna Sixpence, who always brings joy and happiness into our lives. We hope that this cosy and inviting space will make your staycation feel as though you’re at a home away from home. Nestled in Pickering, our cottage is the perfect base for exploring the local area, with its quaint shops, picturesque countryside, and charming pubs.

What does Sixpence Cottage have to offer?

Just a short five-minute walk away from the bustling town centre of Pickering, you’ll discover Sixpence Cottage. With its Grade 2 listing and an approximately 1740 build date, this two-bedroomed abode is brimming with historical character – yet still modernised with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom!

Inviting up to four people and two furry friends in tow, the cottage offers a cosy atmosphere with an immaculate backyard. There's even a table and chairs waiting outside for you to enjoy al fresco dining or drinks under the sun.
Spend comfortable evenings in the living room, lounging on the two armchairs and a sofa beside the open fire or there is a SMART TV and Sky Internet to put on a nice film and relax.
The dining room is the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family, complete with comfortable seating for four and an inviting log burner that creates a warm atmosphere. Plus, an array of board games is available if you'd like to have some extra fun!
Our kitchen is outfitted with all the modern conveniences, from a cooker and fridge to a dishwasher and freezer. You'll also find a microwave, toaster, coffee machine, washing machine - as well as an additional dryer - so you have everything you need.
Enjoy the convenience of a downstairs toilet and basin and a modern bathroom upstairs with a rainfall shower installed over the bath.
Unwind in the spacious bedroom with a super king bed and Freeview TV. The other room contains two single beds, along with wardrobes, mirrors, and hairdryers - everything you need to feel right at home.

Pickering is an interesting town, full of independent shops, many are dog friendly. My dog and I visited cafe's, hotels, charity shops, there is even a dog friendly bakery! The people are really friendly, I felt very at home during my stay. I am unfamiliar with this area, it has so many interesting places explore. I will definitely visit Pickering Cottage again, it is a very convenient base to travel from, to experience a wealth of sights and experiences within the area. The cottage is very comfortable, the owners have decorated it to a high standard, and in keeping with the period it was built, with the addition of 'modern facilities'which are expected these days. The beds are very, very comfortable, and generous in size, with luxurious bed linnen. I slept so well, it was a pleasure to wake up refreshed in the morning. I am looking forward to staying at Pickering Cottage again.

What a perfect weekend break - we absolutely loved it at Sixpence Cottage, we can’t wait to back! It was comfortable, cosy, clean and so beautifully decorated by the hosts! We loved exploring Whitby, which is just a short drive away. The only down side is we didn’t get to stay longer to visit Scarborough but we certainly will be next time. The amenities you are fantastic and better than lots of other cottages we’ve stayed in everything is brand new! Sitting out in the garden with a cuppa in the morning admiring all the lovely wild flowers in the garden was a lovely treat. 100% recommend this stunning cottage to anybody ?
